Quotables: Shut Up, Vanessa Hudgens, You're Perfect No Matter What

"I didn't really know who I was - Vanessa was gone. I came home and I was a complete disaster. My best friend is still so concerned about me when she thinks about that day because I was just a bit of a mess. ... I wasn't really comfortable in social situations and my self-esteem was super low 'cause I had no hair and I had put on all this weight, so physically I didn't feel attractive. And I was single."
--Vanessa Hudgens on the whole entire 15-pound weight gain and the trauma of having short hair to play a pregnant teenager in one of her latest films, "Gimme Shelter," and here's my thoughts, fast-track: "gimme a break."
See, Vanessa is basically flawless and down to earth in every possible way, and though she's being honest (and we commend her for that), she needs to learn that things like weight and hair style and personal circumstance do not define a person. They just don't. And allowing them to change our perception of who we really are is, at best, dangerous, and, at worst, detrimental to our personal growth.
Moral of the story: even if you're an actress, something's going to come up where you're unsure of yourself and your surroundings and how you feel about yourself. It's life. Just don't let a few extra pounds and some janky hair get you down. It's not even close to being worth it.
