How Backwards of You, Kirsten Dunst!

is generally pretty great, right? I mean, she's not not great, and she's been in a solid amount of amazing movies. But this thing that she said recently in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, well, it's kind of got me concerned. Because here's what she said:

"I feel like the feminine has been a little undervalued. We all have to get our own jobs and make our own money, but staying at home, nurturing, being the mother, cooking – it’s a valuable thing my mum created. And sometimes, you need your knight in shining armour. I’m sorry. You need a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman. That’s why relationships work…"

OK, Kirsten, or you can be whoever you want to be. That's a thing that could happen too. There are tons and tons (and probably even some more tons) of women out there who don't equate their womanhood with being inside of their houses. And some do, and that's fine, but to say that relationships don't work without your idea of tired old gender roles is pretty darn annoying, and some would say downright offensive.

Live and let live, girl, all right? Maybe try that out for a while.
