"It's actually not my birthday. It is the first anniversary of my 29th birthday. So it's more of an anniversary celebration than a birthday. I mean, I'll still, like, blow out candles and stuff because I want my wish, but it's not a birthday."

-Carrie Underwood needs you to know that even though she was born 30 years ago, she is not 30 years old. Because that would be the worst.

Except really? Aren't we beyond that kind of thinking now? Wasn't 40 supposed to be the new 30? Or maybe it was that 50 is supposed to be the new 40. Or maybe it's that it's natural and good to age, and it's sort of an amazing accomplishment that your body has been powering nonstop for decades. Yeah, it's probably that one.
