Salma Hayek Just Said the Wrong Thing Again

6/16/2013 2:00 PM PDT, by
Just a few short days ago, Salma Hayek opened her mouth and proved that she should maybe stop doing that. It's not that she says horrible, awful, offensive things, and it's not even like she ever pulls a Kanye. She just says things that she should probably reconsider, that's all. Like this thing about when she was pregnant:

"I gained so much weight, I got an opportunity to see myself completely disfigured in many different ways -- for a very good reason -- and I don't regret it for a second. That's when I started appreciating my body. The things that I used to criticize, they were not that bad after all."

See? You're like, "Oh, that's nice, that she learned to not criticize her body, because it's obviously amazing," but then you're like "Hold up, did she seriously just call herself disfigured?" Because in most circles, disfigurement is something different than that. People who are in horrible accidents are the ones who become disfigured, not women who grow babies in their bodies. Usually that's just called "pregnancy."

We're not mad, all right, Salma? But you can do better. We know you can.

This is one of the most pointless articles I've ever read. The meaning of disfigured is, "to spoil the attractiveness or shape of (something or someone)". If she feels that being pregnant spoiled her attractiveness that's fine! Be honest, pregnancy DOES deform (which means distort) the body. You obviously have some other negative meaning to "disfigure".

Reminder: English isn't Salma's first language.

She probably meant to say something completely different, and use the wrong word. So cut her some slack...

yeah, in spanish, more specifically in mexico, its a whole other meaning. closer to meaning out of shape than what it means here.

Giver her a break. English isn't her first language.

She's crazy! Any woman who beares children are not disfugured! Were womanly! Hollyweird celebs are so stupid. And I would bet $100 she got her titts redone! There's no way they stayed that perky after having a baby!!!

Y'know, I just can't lather up the same righteous indignation as the writer. I mean, honestly, it's Salma Hayek - she makes movies, she doesn't move mountains or save the world. And, if her sense of vanity makes her say she was disfigured, who am I to question her?

Call me when she's threatened to kidnap somebody or get plastic surgery.

This is a pointless article.

Hah.. see I'm gonna defend Emily on this one. While English is NOT her first language, Salma has to know better right? She speaks amazing English otherwise and this was an unfortunate choice of words. Hell if Kim Kardashian had said this you'd all have your pitchforks in hand heading for Casa de Kardashian.

Haa, come on TMZ? Its her version of, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"... I get the car crash
real disfigurement scenario ."mask", but really to take that much offense? What does one expect from a celebrity who has been praised mostly about her figure? Figure it out.
