Sadly, Cory Monteith Played a Drug Addict in His Final Film Project

Cory Monteith's final film project, "McCanick," was about a drug addict, guys. A drug addict. Let that sink in for a minute.

In the movie, Cory played a character by the name of Simon Weeks, and the film's director, Josh Weller, said this about working with Cory:

"He opened up quite a bit. He was like, 'I can do this character. I know this character. I was this character. I have lived elements of this.' He said, 'I was a troubled youth'. ... He had expressed that he was kind of going through a rough time, but that he was feeling better about it, and then when I saw him at the screening he wrote me a really sweet email. ... He was so charismatic and passionate about the material it was just a combination of everything that made me think this guy was going to do it. ... In my mind, I was envisioning a teeny little drug guy, but Cory Monteith is this tall, strapping man. But when I met with him, he wanted to do it so badly. ... He was very vocal about his past, and said he wanted to tap into things from his youth that he hadn't been able to use as an actor yet."

Ugh. If that's not a punch in the gut, who really knows what is.

I don't see this getting tanked. Heath Ledger went crazy trying to get into his character for Batman and that movie made it through just fine.

God, this is always so sad when it's a young, likable person that you thought would make it through their troubles. You see them making strides in public but you seriously never know the inner turmoil someone is truly dealing with... Lea Michelle probably didn't even know just how bad it was. I mean heroin!!!?? Why... gosh. Makes me sad every time I see his face... rip Corey.
