UPDATED: Kidd Kraddick, Dead at 53

Update: Richie Tomblin, head golf professional at the New Orleans-based golf club where Kraddick died, had this to say when contacted by the Associated Press:

“He came out and he borrowed my golf clubs and went out to the driving range. It’s kind of a freaky situation. He came out. He practiced a little bit. He hit the ball at the first tee and wasn’t feeling good and after that I didn’t see him. ... I’m still trying to figure it out. I really don’t know what happened. Everyone keeps texting me asking, ‘What’s going on?’ I really don’t know."

Caroline Cradick, Kidd's daughter, also had this to say via Twitter

"I will never wrap my brain around my fathers passing. Please keep me and my family in your prayers and ask The Lord to watch over my daddy."

David "Kidd" Kraddick
, beloved DJ, radio personality, and philanthropist, is dead at the age of 53 years old.

Kraddick was said to be at a golf tournament to raise money for his Kidd's Kids Charity in New Orleans and passed away suddenly.

This is so sad. I have been listening to Kidd since he came to Dallas/Ft. Worth many years ago. He has brought so much happiness to so many people. Such an amazing philanthropist. He will be greatly missed.

To all of those who don't know Kidd, he was a wonderful, sweet, kind, giving man. He gave of himself every morning even though he couldn't sleep most of the night. They always called him NSK (No sleep Kidd). He has a beautiful daughter named Caroline and friends like Kellie, Big Al, Shannon and J-Si, not to mention Jenna. He gave to needy kids that were dying or ill and took them to Disneyland every year (the whole family). He made us laugh, cry, roll our eyes, groan at his dumb jokes and want to hug him every day. He was the ultimate hero, friend and person that made you laugh and giggle. We will miss you Kidd. Thank you for all you have done for us and for me. You've made me laugh in some very dark times. May you rest in peace and God bless your family and friends.

I listened to his show every morning on my commute when I lived in Dallas. This is extremely sad news. He did a lot for his charities.

My heart is broken for the family of Kidd Kraddick. He brought joy every morning to those of us who listen to his talk show. Some of my best memories are driving my daughter to school while we listened at the skits. We really bonded as we listened and laughed. I never thanked him for that. Rest in peace Kidd, you were a blessing to me and my family. I'll always remember the gift you gave me. Thank You...
