Lady Gaga Released a Song on Purpose This Time, and It's STILL Awful

Sorry, everybody. Sorry if you've been waiting all this time for some huge groundbreaking gift of a song from Lady Gaga. Sorry if you've been crying and jamming to "Born This Way" for months, hoping your weird messiah would soon tell you more ways to feel. Because this is what you get:

If you wanted another anthem, well, you got one. It's just an anthem about how great Lady Gaga is. Just in case you can't bring yourself to listen into it, there are lyrics like "I live for the applause-plause, live for the applause-plause" and "Put your hands up, make 'em touch, touch." Oh, and she puts actual applause in the song. Good for you if you love it, but let's stop pretending that this is art. And that goes for you too, Lady Gaga, Miss "Art's in pop culture in me."

On a totally unrelated note, Katy Perry released a lyric video for her new single, "Roar," today as well! Isn't it weird that Katy's song was always set to be released today, but Gaga released her song today too, even though it was supposed to drop next Monday, because of "leaks"? Anyway, here's Katy's video:

Oh, Katy, you ARE a champion, baby. Thanks for the inspiration. Much applause-plause for you! ... Gaga, sit down.

She's not awful. She's artistic and eccentric. In layman terms, rich and weird.

I don't know what beef you have with her, but you appear petty and pretentious! No wonder you write for a rag like fish wrapper because that's the only thing your writing is worthy of!!!

Are we really not talking about the doppelgänger that is Katy Perry's "roar" and Sarah barreilles "brave?"

I don't love "applause," but at least it's not a blatant ripoff.

AWFUL- Absolutely recycled like everything else she's done. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that she's totally manufactured. Some people are naturally creative and some are like her POSERS.

Biased much?

As a blogger/reporter, you have to write articles on a neutral playing field. Clearly, you are not a Gaga fan AT ALL and you like Katy Perry. Clearly you are fueling the comparison of Katy's song and Gaga's song everyone is spewing about. Clearly you have not done your homework.

You should listen to a little song called Brave...which was released prior to Katy's Roar...sound familiar?

Also, Katy's song was also leaked on SATURDAY. Welcome to current time.

Gaga will always have haters and that is your loss. It is possible to like both, it really is I promise.

Now, go educate yourself on how to properly blog and/or write a 'story' (and I say that VERY loosely)

I must be listening to two different songs. Applause might not be Gaga's best, but it's ten times what Roar is. Roar could have been an outtake from Teenage Dream and sounds all-too like what Sara Barreilles is doing, whereas Gaga's song is in a totally different direction to her Born This Way stuff and has production value worthy of Daft Punk.

Lady Gaga has been going downhill since she released Born This Way. Gaga is trying so hard to be some sort of legend and it's terribly sad. Katy Perry has never had particularly "good" music but at least it's fun to listen to.

Between Katy Perry's new song and Lady Gaga's new song, Perry wins. Lady Gaga tries so hard to be different that it ruins her music. The sad part is that Gaga is 10X more talented than Katy Perry but she ruins herself with trying to be unique.

Her Song BURQA is much better and actually innovative.

APPLAUSE is mediocre if we really wanna be nice. Listen to it thinking it's not Lady Gaga and one would be bored. Kinda like BTW it might do good just because it's branded under Lady Gaga even though its Artistically mediocre. Incomparable to Andy Warhol or Pop Art.

I am sure she put more thought in her outfits as usual rather than actual substance.

Okay you really just sound dumb here. I'm not a big Gaga fan but I appreciate her song more than Katy Perry's "Roar". At least her song is actually original while Katy's song sounds like everything else that's on the radio. Even compared to Katy's older songs, "Roar" is very boring and you can tell there wasn't much thought put into it. My point is that you can say that Gaga's new song isn't good, but don't back up argument saying "Roar" is better.

Applause is a radio song. Catchy chorus, nothing too deep. Gaga doesn't always have to write a song that is deeply artistic. Learn a bit about the artist cycle before trashing a perfectly good song. The album will be the true judge of Gaga's music at this stage.
