People Don't Still Care About "Pirates of the Caribbean" Anymore, Do They?
Look, Johnny Depp is an amazing actor and all, it's just ... "Pirates of the Carribean 5," really? Is it honestly necessary? Sure, they're probably fun movies to make, and they made a whole lot of money, at least in the beginning, but is anyone out there seriously thinking "Oh man, I can't wait to see what those wacky pirates do without the gorgeousness of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley's lips next"?
If so, then sorry, excitable friend, because it's going to be a while. The movie, which stars Johnny, of course, and was supposed to start filming this fall, has been pushed back to be released in the summer of 2016. So just to really lay it out, not next summer, not the summer after that, but the next one. Probably. You know, so they have enough time to work on the script. Does that sound insane to anyone else?
Johnny, listen: maybe just stop all this. Maybe go "hey, Disney, love you, mean it, but I need to do a quirky little low budget thing right now." Maybe remember all the people who love you for things like "Benny and Joon" and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and give a holler to those folks. Just an idea, friend. Think it over.
