Quotables: Winona Ryder Just Made Some of Your Stranger Dreams Come True
"I'm kind of sworn to secrecy. But it sounds like it might be happening. ... It's a very precious movie to people, so there are a lot people like, 'DON'T'. ... It's not a remake. It's 27 years later. And I have to say, I love Lydia so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later.
--Winona Ryder on reprising her epic role as "Lydia" in one of your favorite movies forever and ever amen, "Beetlejuice."
Winona also goes on to say that she wouldn't even consider working on the project, however, if Michael Keaton and Tim Burton weren't both involved.
The whole project, frankly, sounds like it's gonna be pretty amazing on a good many levels if it does pan out, and Winona's right -- you can have your creepy sex offenders like Jeffrey Jones, and we'll even settle for losing Alec Baldwin if he's too busy getting mad all the time ... just give us Winona, Michael, Tim, and Geena Davis, and we'll call it a (happy) draw.
Last, does anybody else hate the fact that "Beetlejuice" (2.0? Whatever they're gonna call it) is being referred to as "27 years later"? Is that not kind of heartbreaking on a real visceral level?
