Why Can't You Just Let Lorde Be Great? GOD.

Look, if you don't know how amazing Lorde is by now, then you probably never will. She's great, she's fantastic, she's all sorts of wonderful things, but for some reason, people just can't let her live up to her full potential. She can't say anything smart and critical and true without someone jumping down her throat for it.

For instance, remember that one quote we shared with you yesterday, the one about music these days? Let's review:

"Around the middle of last year I started listening to a lot of rap, like Nicki Minaj and Drake, as well as pop singers like Lana Del Rey. They all sing about such opulence, stuff that just didn't relate to me—or anyone that I knew.  I began thinking, 'How are we listening to this? It's completely irrelevant'. I basically just wrote what we were all thinking."

OK, that's true. It wasn't rude or uncalled for, she wasn't mean about it at all, it's just true. Nicki Minaj, Drake, Lana Del Rey and the like really do sing about things that are unrelatable, and therefore irrelevant, to the vast majority of people. But God forbid she have anything critical to say about another human being, right? How dare she?

Here's her apology, which thankfully isn't an apology so much as sass:
And that is why she's the greatest. So please just let her be, everybody

GOD...your article is stupid....she's not that great, and she looks like she's 35 years old...and yes, she was back pedaling.

Hey kid, get your self a PR person and get off twiittyy for a while. Being from Auckland you probably don't now what a drake or a minaj is. And if you wanna be 'royal' listen to Lana and learn something.

well she's only...what...17? she hasn't been breathing long to really understand why a "rap" performer or the majority of their target audience may prefer to avoid what they can relate to on a day-to-day basis. it's even more unpleasant than the boring, cynical, essentially care-free world of suburban teenage angst she and others like her can relate to.

I wish she would stop looking at the camera like I'm a lettuce and she is a mean hungry turtle. it's scaring the children.

I wish more artists would criticize eachother. Maybe some honesty would make for better music. Also, if everyone did it, it wouldn't be such a big deal.
