Quotables: Pharrell, You're Reaching, Friend.

"Yeah, it's tough to be that age, and to have to make all those decisions yourself. And it's the people you're surrounded by, too. I'm not worried about Miley. I've seen her soul in action. I know her voice, her voice is crazy. I keep saying it to everybody: You gotta remember, she's [21] years old and enjoying her life. She's enjoying her freedom. When you see her, when you read her words and you listen to her musical choices, and you look at what she's wearing—I'm not talking about when she goes on stage, I'm talking about her everyday dressing—she shuts it the f--- down. Not too many people really understand the Chanel vocabulary like her. Like, she's a problem. Now, when she goes on stage, she's expressing something else. You know, when she's making her music she's expressing something else. She's expressing where she is in her life and her freedom. So while everybody else is being judgmental, they're not taking into account that she's been basically locked behind a camera all her life. And by the way, for good reason. All them years with Disney, and all them years with Billy Ray Cyrus as her dad and Dolly Parton as her godmother, did some good on that voice. But, you know, people are just watching her evolution of a young mind, but an old soul."

--Pharrell defends his good friend Miley Cyrus, and almost brings a tear to our weary eyes.

The thing is that Pharrell definitely makes a whole lot of sense here, but he's talking about things that no one's disputing. Of course she has an amazing voice, but she's using it to to "rap" about twerking and Atlanta or whatever. She probably does know a whole lot about fashion, but she chooses to wear tiny panties with cats all over them that accentuate the folds of her vulva. She very well could have an old soul, but ... actually no, never mind. She doesn't have an old soul. Old souls have probably learned how to keep their soul tongues in their soul mouths. Never mind then.

Nice try, Pharrell, and we totally appreciate what you're trying to do, but don't pretend like we haven't been watching her all this time, OK?

I think if you had at all paid any attention to that quote, then you wouldn't have wrote what you did. Miley is the combination of an old soul and a young mind. And also something that you failed to mention when speaking of that cat outfit, it was a STAGE outfit, which is also something that Pharrell mentioned. Poor "journalism" on your part...again.

Appears to me that Pharrell is a very smart young man.

Miley's voice is amazingly BAD! It's horrible. Pharell is an industry hack that does what he's told and his voice is really bad. Anyone and I mean anyone can make a song with the right technology but if in person what they deliver is less than then they are just envious.

how do people like you get a journalism job?...oh i forgot, anyone with a keyboard is a journalist now. This is some of the most garbage, personal opinion laced pieces of writing ive ever read....get a day job, you suck at this one. You dont regurgitate major media OPINIONS and then act like youre on a high horse because you write for a website nobody cares about.
