It's Time to Forget About the Trashy Garbage That is "Duck Dynasty"

12/18/2013 9:00 AM PST, by
None of you guys watch that horrible travesty of a reality show, "Duck Dynasty," right? Let's hope not, and if any of your friends, family, or acquaintances watch it, let's try and put an end to that too, all right? Because besides the fact that it's a boring show, one of the stars, Phil Robertson, that guy in the center of that photo up there, just gave one of the most offensive interviews ever. He sat down with GQ, for whatever reason, and a whole bunch of vile trash fell out of his mouth.

On "sin" (it's actually homophobia):

“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

More on sin (it's still homophobia):

“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong. Sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men. Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

But hey, no judgement:

“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”

Also this:

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field.... They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

As you might imagine, a lot of people are kind of upset about this interview, enough so that Phil made an additional statement about it:

"I myself am a product of the '60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior. My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other."

Sure, Phil. Whatever helps you sleep at night, buddy. Sounds great.

I'm sorry but I'm more offended by your lack of openness to someone else's opinions. I'm not defending his, or your, viewpoints on homosexuality, racism, whatever - but to insinuate that he is a terrible person for openly expressing his views is worse than whatever you think he did.

At least Phil and the rest of the "white trash" Duck Dynasty family are a loving family and aren't worried about being PC to the point of losing their core values, even if the world doesn't agree with them. Who the heck are you to be calling them "trashy" when all you're doing is trashing people on the internet??

Caroleann and Lesley I totally agree with you. I find that, more and more, the people accusing others of intolerance are the most intolerant of all.

I'm pretty sure "Duck Dynasty" will be around long after the plug is pulled on this juvenile site.

Sounds like FW is passing judgement over a man who is expressing his opinion. What happened to free speech? He didn't say he hated anybody.; he just expressed a different opinion than what the GLBT agenda is constantly pushing.

So only opinions that are in agreement with being gay are tolerated?!? He was simply giving his opinion to a question. Not that everyone has to agree or has the same opinion. A&E has made a bad decision and will pay for it. Done with A&E and this site too.

These guys are Wal-Mart. They are cheap blankets and shitty camo-underwear.
I personally hate the show. I hate people with beards and I hate camoflage and hillbilly porn and hillbillys.

Typical liberal commentary. If anyone says anything about anything not pro gay then they are ousted. Further, bring Christian beliefs into the mix and you have all out hate by the left. Even though the guy says at the end he loves all humanity that is not enough. He is not pro gay and believes in Jesus therefore he is a kook. No one of religious belief can can ever express themselves even when they are clearly being tolerant. I'm not sure why people go here in the first place. Because when they do every press read is going to be negative.

How can you be labelled a bigot for not agreeing with someones lifestyle?

Duck Dynasty is "trash", but this isn't?

The top three stories on your joke of a website involve "peckers and plastic surgery".

Cmon man.

he isn't openly expressing his views on his own private blog, though, is he? he is on a television show that apparently a lot of people watch, and I'm going to guess (because I don't watch it) that people watch it because they find it amusing to peek into the lives of what they consider a lesser class of people and their "bumbling" ways. so the trash part is already implied by the nature of the show itself, and probably played up by the show itself, in commercials and promos. but that's not the point.

the point is, yes, everyone is entitled to their own point of view. everyone, however, is NOT entitled to go into their place of work and spout those views without suffering job repercussions. just think about that.

if you were to go into your place of work and start talking about gays being the same as people who have sex with animals, or blacks not really being slaves, or the holocaust being fake, or dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight, you would be reprimanded. period. free speech wouldn't cover your words.

unfortunately for this man, he happens to be on a television program, which pretty much makes it so any time he opens his mouth in front of a camera, he is "at work". he has a right to his opinion, (however misguided it may be). he doesn't have a right to spew it and get paid for it.

all he did was basically state his opinion and even said that he had no hate toward any human, but that his beliefs were different from theirs. i don't even watch duck dynasty but all the media is doing is attacking them because they are one of the most popular families on tv right now and its a hot story. to bash him for his is opinion is a as discriminatory as what ppl are saying that his statement was.

Well looks like the hysterical cry baby's loose this round. It seems the majority of Americans believe he's allowed to have an opinion. Wow what a concept.

Fishwrapper SERIOUSLY needs to overhaul the BS they spew through the likes of you and Sarah Taylor!

The Robertsons LIVE by the bible, value family and they love and respect ALL people. That being said, if Phil raised his boys and was an hero to his boys, as we all can tell, wouldn't they follow in their fathers footsteps? Hate is learned and usually through parents. If Phil was racist and full of HATE, then why on EARTH would Willie Robertson have CHOSEN to adopt a black child?
