Suck it Up, "Duck Dynasty"

Sadly, debilitatingly naive Phil Robertson's stint on "Duck Dynasty" is currently on indefinite hiatus -- and if we're really lucky, he'll learn something from making such awful, inflammatory statements about both black and gay people

A statement was released yesterday by A&E, citing a disagreement of ideals for the suspension:

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

Naturally, fans of both Phil and the show predictably freaked out, saying things like how it's OK for President Obama to "lie" about health care and every other thing under the sun, but not OK for Phil to voice his personal opinions -- which, mind you, is not "personal" at all, when he's peddling them as irrefutable truths that are bent on condemning people to hell for the rest of eternity.

Former baseball star, Curt Schilling, even had two cents to throw into the mix:
And naturally, Sarah Palin tossed around the "free speech" barb that lots of people are so keen to regurgitate, when they don't even fully understand the caveats of the amendment (the ones where, you know, the amendment is for all people, and not just for those who you happen to agree with). From Sarah's Facebook page:

"Free speech is an endangered species. Those intolerants hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us."

Sorry you're so naive, Phil (and Curt ... and Sarah), but it's time to wake up -- you're in the 21st century now, friend, and not everyone is going to take your misguided elitist BS as creed -- and what's transpired over the last 24 hours is iron-clad proof.

Tolerance goes both ways, and the public has obviously cried out that they're not going to stand for intolerance of any kind -- not just religious intolerance. There's a major difference between expressing your views and spewing vile bigotry.

"Love thy neighbor" ... unless he's gay? Come on. We can do so much better than this.

Phil Robertson never said anything about hating gays! He said he would respect all people and their choices. Sarah & Curt are right when they said that Freedom of Speech is only when we agree with what everyone says. Phil doesn't think believe in gay relationships, big deal? He doesn't have a right to his opinion now?? He never once said that they should be hung or anything like that. Get a grip!! And stop twisting his statements.

Look Sarah, he just said he's against it, he did not imply hate. Did he say love thy neighbor unless he's gay? No, YOU did. People of lesser intelligence will read hatred into his comments. Not agreeing with the gay lifestyle does not mean hating it.

It was his PERSONAL OPINION. Period. Sarah Taylor is certainly entitled to express her OPINION on his comments, but to state that Phil Robertson does not have the right to speak his opinion and to falsely claim that he is presenting these opinions as fact is deplorable.

I don't know why I waste my time with this dumbass Sarah Taylor. Everything she writes is her personal opinion. Maybe you should be suspended indefinitely? Maybe people like YOU are what's wrong with this country. Intolerance for anything that you don't agree with.
I think the guys from DD should tell A&E to shove it. I am sure another network would be more than happy to take them on, prayers and all!

WOW....the idea that his remarks were filled with hate is LAUGHABLE!!! Sarah, if you live in a world were everyone that does not agree with you a HATER, then that is a YOU PROBLEM!!! Yes it is the 21st century, it is clearly a time in history where the individual and his RIGHT to voice an OPINION has disappeared. The Man simply shared his view on homosexuality, He has a RIGHT to not understand it. The Bible is the most distributed book in the history of man kind, BUT you are not allowed to reference it in an interview?? Apparently Phil Robertson has lost his RIGHT to be an individual.....sad sad sad!

Who cares about what this hillbilly says? The show caters to the mentality he speaks of. I don't have to agree with him about the bible teachings regarding sin and equality. Or understand why it's often misquoted by his "kind", but I certainly don't think he should be silenced. We as free minded, individual thinking people will never agree on matters or race, sexual preference, or religion. NEVER. Stop all of this PC bull crap you spew on these sites but then go home and say the "F" word or "N" word at your dinner table. Everyone has their prejudices and wether they drape in sheets of paper from their often misinterpreted bible or the ramblings of a blog site that studies Kim Kardashian to see if her face looks different in pictures -- everyone is entitled to an opinion.

TMZ is linking to this article with the quote "One SMALL thing could have prevented Phil from losing it all"....ummmm, they were millionaires before the show, they'll be millionaires after-How are they "losing it all?"
Won't even comment on this dopey article which regurgitates everything you would expect from the Hollyweird Speech Nazis, instead I would suggest you all write or call A & E: feedbackaetv@aenetworks.com or (212) 210-1340. Let them know you want Phil's suspension lifted or you will start contacting their sponsors.

You just stated your opinion just as Phil did. Let's see YOU get "suspended indefinitely" for that and see how you feel. Phil said nothing about hating gays. He, along with a numerous amount of other people are just against it because PHIL LIVES HIS LIFE BY THE BIBLE. He was simply quoting the bible. He also said he has no right to judge, and he's living that to The Almighty. He's not judging people for being different from him. You are twisting what he said around in order to make him sound like a horrible person, when in reality, people like you is what is wrong with this world. It's perfectly okay for performers like Miley Cyrus to dance pretty much nude on stage, but for Phil to give an honest answer to a question he was ASKED, that's not right. That wonderful Godly man does not deserve this kind of treatment.

Good Lord. Can people not read anymore? When did misrepresenting someone become reporting? Not only did Phil not equate beastiality with homosexuality he just lists them as both being sins IN HIS OPINION. As for "the people " speaking.. better heck out the overwhelming support for Phil. If gay folk want to be treated as equals I suggest they learn to read and not be so thin skinned. Can't be the first time GLAAD has learned the Bible takes a dim view of homosexuality.

"Tolerance goes both ways" is obviously not represented in this so called article. Tolerance is defined as "the ability to tolerate the existence of opinions or behaviors that one does not necessarily agree with." Phil Robertson is displaying a tremendous amount of tolerance. He disagrees with homosexuality, yet he treats no one differently because of it. Ms. Taylor shows no tolerance through this piece. You obviously disagree with him so you choose to call him "vile" and bigoted? His grandchildren may see this about their Papaw Phil... How can someone who screams equality and tolerance display so little? Practice what you preach Ms. Taylor, then maybe you will be taken seriously as a journalist and as an adult.

He gave a personal opinion according to his religious beliefs. Last I heard we still had freedom of religion and freedom of speech. He never implied he hated or wished harm to anyone. As for his racial comments those to were based on his personal experiences. He also didn't say anything hateful or wish harm with that statement either. It's disgraceful how the media can spin a story and try to ruin a person all for their own personal gain.
