And Now It's Time to Take a Sad Break for Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber's been arrested for DUI in Miami -- while drag racing, nonetheless -- and the only emotion I can wrangle up this morning over poor, dumb, ol' Justin Bieber is sadness. Head-shaking, saw-this-coming-and-thank-God-it-did sadness. Commence eye-rolling to be sure.

We generally rag on Justin Bieber just as hard as anyone else, and in addition to the latest sizzurp allegations, the ragging has become founded, not just based on a personal dislike for a certain type of music or stage persona.

However, when you really get to the root of it, you've got a 19-year-old kid in a really heartbreaking situation. A 19-year-old kid who has basically never had any rules, who never got to play like normal child, and who also happens to have a mother whose only interest is furthering her own show business career (a career that never even took off when she was on her own) by building it off the back of a son who she was pressured to abort anyway, and whose fame she capitalized on like some lurking, starving, dormant wolf.

In addition, he's got promoters, fans, media, and all the rest depending on him -- and have been from an extremely young age -- for something, whether it's a cut of his cash, capitalization on a name, or just role model adoration. It's a lot.

So while Justin Bieber is in your thoughts today (after you shake your head over what a bonehead douchebag he is, of course, though not so unlike what most of us might have been like -- or were like -- at 19), let's have a little bit of sympathy for the kid -- he's 19 years old, and now -- finally! -- he's Made the Big Mistake. Let's hope that he completely turns his life around after this, because if eggs and graffiti have yet to make a dent, this has just got to, right?

It's a damn good thing you didn't kill or hurt anyone, Justin, and now the ball -- once more -- is your court. Do something positive with it and start afresh, all right kid?

A 'kid' is 14. He is old enough to join the military and go to war. He's old enough to be married, have a child and work full time to support them as many 19 year old MEN do.

Please stop with the "he's just a kid" comment. He's being a douche.... because he's a douche.

He wasn't discovered until his teens.
You are always pulling facts out of your a++ You have got to be the worst reporter or writer that I have seen in all of my 56 years !
Time for YOU to grow up.

People have gone through worse and come out better. He's an adult, and he's old enough to figure it out. Isn't it odd that you don't give female celebs in the same situation the same pass as you give this entitled, malicious asshole?

So NOW you have sympathy? The media is what did this to him - not his mother. Every move he made was on camera and was scrutinized and criticized...usually by flippin' MALE adults. He was pushed so far into a corner, he finally turned to a group of people who totally accepted him. He's just so young and stupid, he doesn't realize its because of what he can do for them. His money disappears? So will they. I felt sorry for him for the longest time. Now I'm just tired of watching the train wreck. But DO NOT blame his mother. If anyone profited off of him - its the damn media.

Once again, blame the mother. He makes his own choices. Seems to be another situation whereby someone acheievs great fame at a young age and takes advantage of it. He acts like a thug with no regard for others.

Hopefully the police will get the support they need to keep Justin in custody long enough to get him some help because he is going to kill someone very soon. For Community Service, if he even gets that for a penalty: Count the roadside memorials in Florida and please understand that their are broken families who have to live with the consequences of speed ad reckless driving every day . Hopefully the Miami Court will not be paid off by the local prominent speed lobby. So many innocent children have been killed in Florida from racing and reckless driving and Justin should get help now before he kills another child. So tired of hearing about racing deaths on the news and seeing the professionals make excuses with their children's charities and other tax shelters. My daughter just 18 years old was killed by the BFF of a professional race-car driver just before her High School graduation in Central Florida. The young man driving killed himself also and almost demolished a family of four as he pushed to pass at 95-100 mph in his Honda. We finally were able to help to get an illegal street racing bill passed in Florida (for all of Florida), The racing bill was weakened by the bought-off police along with their speed loving friends (who love racing as a hobby, BTW) who only wanted a 3rd degree misdemeanor and since Florida is "A property state" the cars are not confiscated, as they are in CA. Time to crush the cars when they are confiscated. No sympathy and no excuses.

Hopefully the Miami Court will not be paid off by the speed lobby and "friends" in Miami. Justin Bieber sadly needs help and his friends in the professional racing community will do him and others a HUGE disservice if he is bailed out. So many innocent children have been killed in Florida from racing and reckless driving and Justin should get help now before he kills another child. So tired of hearing about racing deaths on the news and seeing the professionals make excuses with their children's charities and tax shelters that support their love for adrenaline and speed, which they pander to kids like Justin. My daughter just 18 years old was killed by the BFF of a professional racecar driver just before her High School graduation in Central Florida. The young man driving killed himself also and almost demolished a family of four as he pushed to pass at 95-100 mph in his Honda...immitating his racing professional childhood friend who brag about how "if you are in control you are driving too slow". etc. We finally were able to help to get an illegal street racing bill passed in Florida (for all of Florida) and it was bought-off by the racing lobby and speed-loving "friends" of the police (who also love racing as a hobby and a passtime, BTW). All we were able to guarantee in the new law was 3rd degree misdemeanor and since Florida is "A property state" the cars are not confiscated, as they are in CA. Time to crush the cars when they are confiscated for illegal street racing. No excuses and No sympathy! Lamborghini's and Ferrari's are no exception just because they are built for speed.

I've got a family member in showbiz and this reads like what's to come. Mom is desperately trying to horn in on the fame - she's now on stage with her child, performing right alongside, trying to suckle at that giant teat of fame, take it anyway she can, because she's longed for it all her life, and finally found it in the likeliest of places...her own star child - because the child was groomed for stardom. Removed from school in elementary to focus on her acting, singing and dancing. And now has some fame and is respected for her talents...but mom wants it now. She's sacrificed herself to get her kid there, so why not? Why not jump on that giant bandwagon of fame and reap all that she can? Because it's sickening, twisted, narcissistic and wrong. The whole thing is going to be one big gigantic train wreck...and the implosion is coming. Honestly? I can't wait. Gonna grab my bag of popcorn and watch the whole thing sink like Titanic II: This Time It's Personal. Bwahahahahaha!

I don't get the sympathy for Justin Bieber here.

If this were a FEMALE 19 year old going off the rails, she would have been called everything from a trash bag to a potential murderer, yet for a MALE we should all feel sympathy for 'Poor little rich boy biebs'.

Why don't you say, Thank GOD no innocent people were KILLED while little dick was out driving drunk? This is a shame. It's time to shut this trash down. All he is now is a drug addict with a waste of a life behind him. It's time he retire. he will never, EVER make t past the age of 27 if that! He is and has been headed in a downward spiral for a while. You can blame all you want but he knows right from wrong. He just chooses to do wrong. He better be thankful nobody got hurt or killed with his latest stupidity.

He acts like a kid because he IS a kid. Not legally, no. But he lacks the experience that gives us all the wisdom we need to navigate the world. I can't imagine there being ANYONE out there that could have his life, his fame, his money (about $100 million dollars) and his every single move be it bad or good, on display for public consumption. Did he want all this? You bet he did, because every kid dreams of being rich and famous. Our society idolizes pop stars and pays them big money because they MAKE big money for everyone involved. I find all these recent events and his choices really sad, and I could see it coming years ago. To be a child and a star is NOT a normal existence. You know who did this to him? His mom who signed him up with Scooter and Scooter so he could make everyone rich. Usher, who also signed him up in order to become even richer. Just was a 13 year old or 14 year old CHILD. And when was the last time a child was held responsible for making life altering decisions? It is not okay to push a child into show business, it is not okay to let a teenager buy a mansion in Los Angeles and let him live alone there without any trustworthy adults who aren't on his payroll. Give a kid $100 million dollars and all the power that goes along with money and fame, and THIS is exactly what happens EVERY TIME. Los Angeles is a town filled with gold digging scum and hangers on. He should have stayed in Canada, moved to Utah, Wyoming ANYWHERE but Los Angeles. I absolutely blame every single adult in his life for this. He stopped being Justin the kid and was in their eyes, seen as Justin the superstar long ago. You give a kid al the money and fame and ZERO boundaries with which regular teenagers have to live by, and this is what happens. It really is heartbreaking. He's a person. And I would say this about anyone in his shoes at his age. I have a son very close to his age, and I can not imagine treating him the way his parents and family and "friends" have treated him. Like a cash cow. Never saying no. Enabling him and ensuring failure as a decent human being. It may look like he has a great life and he's squandering it, but no. He has zero life, and money can't buy peace, love or happiness. He has a long road ahead.

I do not feel sorry or pity for him. he knows what he is doing and he knows that he is being bad and a douche. people should stop with this crapp and we as a society must learn to pay for our mistakes.

driving while being drunk and on drugs is no way to go. he thinks that he is above the law like every celebrity. Guess what kid, you are not.

enough with these douches.
