Olivia Newton-John's Daughter is a Jackass

You know what's not funny? Well, lots of things, but the main thing in question here right now are eating disorders. They're most definitely not funny, and the only thing less funny than an eating disorder is someone -- who formerly suffered from an eating disorder, mind you -- joking about eating disorders when they're apparently not intelligent enough to realize that there are others out there to whom eating disorders are not a joke ... especially those still suffering from one.

The photo up top belongs to a girl named Chloe Lattanzi, who is Olivia Newton-John's daughter. Chloe herself suffered from anorexia when she was younger -- she's 28 years old now -- and has never been shy about discussing her illnesses in a public forum. Chloe admitted to checking into her first clinic to treat anorexia when she was 18, and then again last year for substance abuse.

Chloe, however, exercised some pretty poor judgement when posting this photo over the last few days, because the caption read "Taken [sic]  a quick lunch break. Diet water and some lettuce! Just kidding."

Does Chloe not realize that such a comment, while obviously reflecting poorly on Chloe herself, could negatively impact those who currently suffer from eating disorders, if they agree that her statement is a rational one? Or worse, the same folks taking the comment in a mocking context, it smashing any remaining bit of self-worth and esteem to dust?

Somebody who professes to be well and smart enough to dole out life advice should be a little bit more careful than this, because her insensitive, callous comments are reckless and hypocritical at best. This kind of stuff should not be happening at this stage in the game.

Let's hope for Chloe's sake that she really is joking, and that she's remorseful and aware enough to realize that she could have potentially done some serious damage with that caption.

Wow, whoever wrote this drivel needs to get a life. She can joke about anything she wants. If she can find humor in her circumstance, that's what girls should take away. Perhaps if people lightened up a bit, they wouldn't be stuck in the ultra serious self fixation mode that is necessary to maintain such a "disorder."

Sarah Taylor, you must be running out of things to "write about". Although, I have to hand it to you - it's truly a gift how you can dissect all actions and statements to somehow find the smidgen of a hint of a thread that you could possibly blow up into something. Talk about a mountain out of a mole-hill. What next? "How dare she joke about cutting her hair, doesn't she realize how many people in the world she is offending because they cannot grow their hair long?".... "How dare he say he prefers sports cars, when there are so many people in the world who drive minivans! He is so OMG insensitive!"
Lighten up, seriously. This site is becoming a wasteland.

Really? Is this article serious? She was being lighthearted. I see nothing wrong with what she wrote. And you call HER a jackass? Hmm, the only jackass I see here is the author of this article.

Sarah Taylor don't be such a troll. You wrote that this girl had an eating disorder. Bullying her because of an innocuous remark could have a detrimental effect on her. Very few people would even know about this if you weren't writing it.

Are you kidding me??? One, that is absurd to take offense at a joke. Two, even if she was publicly mocking anorexia, which SHE WASN'T (she didn't even come close to discussing eating disorders), as a recovering anorexic she can joke about whatever the hell she wants to...

This is the second FishWrapper article I have read in three days by the same author that is just STUPID...wish I could get a job where I didn't have to have skills or talent like this "reporter"...

Literally, shaking my head...

Sarah, this article is very unfair and jackassish. I would apologize to your readers and especially Cloe.

Sarah Taylor you should be ashamed of yourself for writing such nonsense! Poor Chloe was making such a light hearted joke, which she is entitled to! I hope Chloe doesn't run across your scathing little worthless article! We need to start a petition for Sarah to be replaced as a writer. Not fired, I'm sure there is another place in the company for you, just not writing articles.

Sarah Taylor -- do you have an eating disorder? That might explain this over-reaction.

She does run the site. I commented about how Emily is the reason I read this site. Emily is just flat out more entertaining in her commentary and light hearted. I pointed out that Sarah just gives her opinion and attempts to make political/newsworthy commentary and always be "so liberal and open-minded" that she's closed minded. She commented back that she's some managing editor. Basically, to get rid of her, we just need to stop reading the site or at least any of her posts so that she gets decreased hits. I haven't in quite awhile but I was just reading Emily's and noticed this. Sarah is just not any good at all, remember the Paul Walker comments? Sometimes she is just utterly offensive. Maybe making a joke is one of this girl's coping mechanisms? She did survive anorexia and become a role model. Can you say the same Sarah?

I love your web sight and just started following it. I think this article was just not a good fit. A number of people joke about their illnesses both physical and mental. Joking takes the power away from the disease and helps to heal the soul. So, having an eating disorder is awful but being able to laugh at yourself is quite empowering. Go to an open AA meeting; they're not sitting around crying about how they cant drink and all they have lost, they are usually having a good laugh because they see some of the silly things they did during their addiction. I'm gonna give Chloe Lattanzi a pass here because I do not think she was being Malicious or insensitive. I'm giving Sarah Taylor a pass as well because flaming on authors doesn't improve the craft. Keep up the good work Ms. Taylor and this article...never happened :) Kindest Regards
