Quotables: Eva Longoria Thinks Eva Longoria Is JUST GREAT

3/18/2014 9:30 AM PDT, by

"I never thought of myself as a sex symbol. I just do the cover of magazines. I think it's really unfair men or people in the world think you can't be both—you can't be a sex symbol and a serious businessperson. Who says I can't be both? Who says I can't do the cover of Maxim and run a production company? Women are complex. Women are beautiful and intellectual and spiritual and social and entrepreneurial. They're everything. And I think I'm a great example of that."

--Eva Longoria tells Prestige all about how wonderful she is. Because of course she did.

It's just that ... ugh. This little quote started out fine, and sure, she made a decent point: women can be sexy and serious at the very same time, imagine that! It's just that very last part, the "I'm a great example of women who can be beautiful and smart and sexy and business oriented and funny and powerful and friendly and nice and great and fun and cute and ..." That ellipsis, by the way, was put in there because, for some reason, I can imagine Eva being able to go on for a great while longer about all her good qualities. Because she is everything. Yeah, that's where it started to get annoying.

Hey, here's a wacky idea: what if we tried out some humility, Eva Longoria? Wouldn't that be wild? Maybe if you could add that into the mix, then you really could be everything! (Probably not though, sorry.)

Imagine if she wasn't pretty? And that's what her parents did, not she.

If only she'd left out that last sentence... And the first two. The rest is true. Too bad she ruined a valid message with stereotypical Hollywood BS.

What? Eva spoke her truth. Nothing wrong with that. The author of this story seems to be nit-picking. Slow news day I guess.

So she used herself as an expample of a beautiful busunesswoman? Wow, what bithc! Wait, that's exactly what she is! So what if she brags about it. She worked hard to get where she is today and is a good example to women that they can be both sexy and smart. Maybe your website you would more hits and better comments if you took positive quotes like Eva's and wrote soemthing nice. Or, as in the real world of jounalism, simply reported without giving a narcisstic opiinion. Work hard and earn your keep like Eva Longoria and maybe one day you, too can brag about yourself and back it up!

Would you feel the same way if a man had said that? Probably not. What she said was true. Are all of the "writers" for Fish...whatever as judgemental (emphasis on MENTAL) as this? This crap pops up on my computer all the time. And ,idiot that I am, I actually read it sometimes. Seems like a lot of bitter, lonely, jealous women write for them.

I find Ms. Longoria's comments encouraging and Ms. Trainham's statements snarky. I pick Door #1.

So confidence and expressing it are bad? Ok.

Seriously? I don't see anything wrong with what she said. She didn't brag rudely about her self. Obviously she is confident and I'm sure the question was pertaining to how she was both. You guys are over thinking the quote.

Her beauty is how she got doors to open to get where she is and there's nothing wrong with that.
