Quotables: Did Julia Roberts Honestly Just Slam Halle Berry?
"I think I've always sort of been on the more boyish spectrum of girls. For example, I've never been chosen as 'one of the top-five hottest actresses in a bikini.' And honestly, it's a godsend. When I was younger, I'd think, 'Oh, I'm the prettiest one. It's not Halle Berry. It's not!' But it is, you know?"
--Julia Roberts sort of, maybe, passive aggressively disses Halle Berry while discussing her body. Huh.
Really though, this is just odd. Julia Roberts, while obviously gorgeous, doesn't have a lot of curves, and if she would have just talked about that, this would be a great little quote. You're still a beautiful woman even if you don't have large breasts, that kind of thing, that would be sweet. But she had to bring that bit about Halle Berry in there, and that's what took this quote from awesome to, well, not.
It's just that you don't have to bring others down to bring yourself up. And yeah, Julia is talking about doing that in the past tense, but still, there was no reason to say what she said. It's thoughtless and rude, and honestly, we should be able to expect better from the lady who brought us "Pretty Woman."
